Accu-Scope's knowledgeable staff is qualified and willing to assist you in your selection and purchase of a microscope. Accu-Scope offers the only 5 year electrical warranty in the industry and can still repair/replace microscopes we manufactured as far back as the early 1960’s.

MICROSCOPE CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS:
LENS SHOULD BE INSPECTED FOR DUST, DIRT OR OIL PRIOR TO CLEANING
DO NOT CLEAN OPTICAL SURFACES UNLESS  DUST, DEBRIS OR OIL IS AFFECTING OPTICAL PERFORMANCE
CLEANING SHOULD BE ATTEMPTED ONLY IF THERE IS CLOUDINESS, POOR DEFINITION OR POOR CONTRAST

CAUTIONS

Use care not to grind microscopic dirt into the soft glass of an objective. Doing this will scratch the glass.
Do not apply excessive amounts of solvent to the glass surface. Too much solvent will seep into the lens elements and cause weakening of the cement between elements or coatings.
Do not use caustic agents as they will remove lens coatings.

CLEANING MATERIALS

The following materials are acceptable by most microscope and optical suppliers:

Lint-free cotton (artificial preferred) swabs on wooden sticks
Reagent grade acetone or reagent grade isopropyl alcohol
Compressed air with nitrogen propellant only and/or bellows brush

LENS CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Using nitrogen propelled compressed air or a bellows brush, gently remove dust or dirt particles from the lens surface
Dip the end of a lint-free cotton swab into your solvent
Shake the swab to remove excess solvent
Beginning at the center of the lens and using a circular motion towards the outer edges, gently wipe the surface with the moistened end of the cotton swab
Use nitrogen-free compressed air or a bellows brush to remove any residue
With a jewelers loupe, inspect the lens for any area not completely cleaned
If not clean, use new lint-free swabs and repeat cleaning procedure

IF THE LENS IS STILL NOT CLEAN, CONTACT A QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL SERVICE PERSON TO INSPECT OR REPLACE THE OPTIC

MICROSCOPE STAND AND STAGE PLATE CLEANING

Unplug all electrical connections before cleaning. Cleanse the microscope stand and stage surfaces with a lint free soft cloth moistened with a diluted mild soapy solution.  For stereo microscopes remove the stage plate from the microscope stand when attempting to clean.  Do not use a wet cloth to clean the stage. Do not use acetone, alcohol or other solvents as they may damage painted surfaces. Allow the stage plate to thoroughly dry before reattaching to microscope.
